Department of Computer Applications
The School of Computer Applications established in the year 2002, offers a three year Post-Graduate program in Computer Applications (MCA) for an intake of 90 students. The Program is affiliated to Mahamaya Technical University (MTU), Noida, and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. MCA program focuses on the students having following program outcomes:-
- an ability to apply knowledge of mathematical foundations, management principles, computer programming and other principles as it applies to the fields of computer software and hardware,
- an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to organize, analyze, and interpret data,
- an ability to design and construct a hardware and software system, component, or process to meet desired needs, within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, ethical, health & safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
- an ability to function on multidisciplinary teams,
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve moderate hardware and software problems using sound computer engineering principles,
- an understanding of professional, legal, and ethical issues and responsibilities as it pertains to computer applications,
- an ability to effectively communicate technical information in speech, presentation, and in writing,
- the broad education necessary to understand the impact of computing in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context,
- a recognition of the need for an ability to engage in lifelong self learning
- a knowledge of contemporary issues, and
- an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern hardware and software tools necessary for computer applications.
For admission in MCA program, the criterion is:
Through State level entrance exam (UP-SEE)
Under management quota and against vacant seats, based on merit of
(i) UP-SEE (ii) Marks in Graduation
The Master of Computer Application curriculum spreads over six semesters which includes courses for five semesters aimed at transmitting the broad spectrum of knowledge as indicated below and one semester internship in reputed organizations. There are 24 core theory courses, 3 elective courses and 14 practical courses which a student has to clear including the core subjects like Operating systems, Computer Networks, Databases, Mathematical foundation of Computer Science, Computer System Design, Software Engineering, Object Oriented Systems and elective subjects like Cryptography and Network Security, Mobile Computing, Distributed Systems and subjects that are interdisciplinary in nature such as Principles of Management, Professional Communication, Human Values and Professional Ethics. Most of these courses cover analytical, mathematical, data modeling based objective and descriptive problems and their solutions.
The practical lab work is an integral part of MCA program. The lab sessions are organized with a group of maximum 20 students. The practical lab work contributes towards design and conducts experiments, as well as to organize, analyze, and interpret data in numerous ways. This also incorporates the ability to design and construct software systems, components, or processes to meet desired needs, within given constraints.
Infrastructure / Facilities
The School of Computer Applications has five well equipped class rooms, two tutorial rooms & one Seminar hall. MCA Library is well stocked with books, magazines and journals. It has more than 2000 book titles, a CD Library with more than 50 CD/ DVD Titles related to different subjects.
There are three well-equipped networked computer labs with 66 computer systems and various peripherals. The whole school premises are Wi-Fi enabled.

Training Programs and Project Work:
The Institute’s association with globally renowned IT companies such as IBM, Oracle. EMC, HPES, and Microsoft have helped the department in meeting the program outcomes which have been defined in accordance with Washington Accord. Our students are trained and certified on technologies which not only improve their knowledge but also increases their employability. The Hands-on training workshops are organized periodically in the department. These workshops are a powerful tool to provide students an ability to identify, formulate, and solve moderate hardware and software problems using sound computer engineering principles. Also the workshops encourage the ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern hardware and software tools necessary for computer applications.
The Guest/ expert lectures are organized periodically in the School of Computer Applications. These lectures are a powerful tool to provide students an ability to enhance knowledge on multiple disciplines. This also gives an understanding of professional, legal, and ethical issues and responsibilities and the broad education necessary to understand the impact of computing in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
The industrial training and project work is required to be done by each student in final semester of the program, as a part of curriculum. This provides students an opportunity to identify, analyze, design and construct a hardware and/or software system, component, or process to meet defined requirements, within given constraints. The industrial visits are organized periodically for the pre-final and final year students of MCA. The project work develops an ability to function on multidisciplinary teams, an understanding of professional, legal, and ethical issues and responsibilities as it pertains to computer applications and an ability to effectively communicate technical information in speech, presentation, and in writing.
The School of Computer Applications has sufficient number of faculty members with various research specializations. Among them three are doctorate holders and two are pursuing PhD. All faculty members are well qualified and experienced professionals. Research carried out in the department has resulted in 15 peer reviewed journal publications and 08 International/ National conference publications. The school also comprises of experienced and competent technical support staff. The staff student ratio has been maintained as 15:1 ratio as per the AICTE norms.

There is a consistent encouragement for the students to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Our students have won laurels in inter college festivals of national repute. The quality of the students is reflected in good on-campus/ off-campus recruitments together with their securing admissions for higher education in prestigious Universities in India and abroad.
