Prof. R.C. Shard, M.Sc., MHRD, joined the Indian Army in 1973 as an infantry officer. During his career spanning 35 years he excelled at courses of Instruction in the Army and achieved instructor grades. His performance resulted in his appointment as ADC to the Governor and Chancellor of Universities in Rajasthan from 1980-83. He raised a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in 1994 and fought counter insurgency operations in Assam, Jammu and Kashmir where he was twice awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation for gallantry and leadership. He completed his M.Sc.(Defense studies) in 1987 and followed it up with MHRD from CCS University, Meerut in 2001. He was posted as Dy. Director General, NCC Maharashtra in the rank of Brigadier where his training acumen resulted in NCC Maharashtra bagging the “Best Directorate - Prime Minister Banner” three years in a row. Post retirement he has joined BIT since 01 Sep 2008.
